A coin for the small decisions
An online coin flip gives you one of two outcomes without needing a coin in your pocket. Agree which option is heads and which is tails before flipping; the result stays visible until your next flip or reset.
Each outcome has a 50% chance. The browser's cryptographic random generator supplies a draw through rejection sampling. The outcome is selected before the animation begins; this is a visual reveal, not a physical simulation.
How to use it
- Assign one choice to heads and the other to tails.
- Press Flip coin and wait for the result.
- Flip again for a new independent draw, or reset the session counts.
Ideas to try
- Decide who starts a board game.
- Choose between two lunch spots.
- Assign sides for a friendly game.
- Explore heads and tails frequencies in a classroom.
Questions
- Does a run of heads make tails more likely?
- No. Previous flips do not affect the next flip. The session tally is a record, not a prediction.
- Why are the counts not exactly equal?
- A 50/50 chance does not guarantee a balanced short sequence. Repeated outcomes can occur.
- Are my flips saved?
- No. The result and counts live only on this page for this visit. Reloading starts a fresh session.
- Can I skip the movement?
- Enable your device's reduced-motion preference for an immediate result. Sound uses the same mute preference as the site's wheels.
