Random Date Picker Wheel
Include weekdays
Date format
How to pick a random date
- Enter a start date and an end date. Both dates are included if their weekdays are enabled; put the earlier date first.
- Choose the weekdays that count. All seven start enabled. For weekends only, leave Sun and Sat enabled and turn off Mon through Fri.
- Choose Long, Short or ISO for the result display. ISO gives an unambiguous year-month-day date.
- Press Spin random date. The picker selects one matching calendar date and adds it to Recent results. Clear results empties the result and history without changing your range, weekdays or format.
Examples and ways to use it
A random weekend outing
Set the range to the month you are considering and enable only Sat and Sun. Each matching Saturday and Sunday becomes a possible outing date. Check opening times and availability separately before booking.
A rota date
Enter the rota period and enable only the days your team works, such as Mon through Fri. This picks a date, not a person or a shift. The weekday filter does not automatically exclude holidays or individual absences.
A class activity day
Use the first and last dates of a teaching week, with Mon through Fri enabled. For a class that meets only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, enable just Tue and Thu. Restrict the range to a period when class is actually in session.
An event-planning starting point
Choose a planning window and the weekdays your group can attend. A draw can give you a candidate to discuss; it does not check calendars, venue capacity or everyone's availability.
What happens when no dates match?
If the range contains none of your enabled weekdays, or all weekdays are turned off, pressing Spin random date shows “No eligible options. Adjust your filters first.” No new date is selected or added to history. Enable a matching weekday or widen the range, then try again. Any previous result remains visible; it is not a new draw.
A missing or invalid endpoint, or a start date later than the end date, instead shows “Choose a valid start and end date.” The picker does not silently swap these dates.
Date picker questions
Are the start and end dates included?
Yes, provided their weekdays are enabled. You can also enter the same date for both endpoints: it is the only possible result if its weekday is enabled.
Can I choose weekdays, weekends or one particular day?
Yes. Enable Mon through Fri for weekdays, Sun and Sat for weekends, or any individual weekday for recurring-day choices. The filter applies to every date in the range.
Can the same date come up twice?
Yes. Each draw uses the full matching set again; history does not remove dates. Clearing results does not change which dates can be picked.
How is a date selected fairly?
Every matching date has the same selection chance. The picker uses your browser's cryptographic random generator with rejection sampling, rather than choosing a weekday first. A weekday with more occurrences in the range therefore has more possible dates, not extra weight per date.
Will my timezone change the selected calendar date?
The entered dates, weekday checks and result formatting use UTC so a timezone or daylight-saving change does not shift the chosen date. Long and Short use your browser's locale for presentation; ISO uses YYYY-MM-DD. This tool chooses a calendar date, not a local appointment time.
Choosing a numbered option instead? Use the Number Picker. For a binary choice, try Yes/No, or put your own possibilities in the Decision Maker.
